    Genius Products

I've been a SeaSucker fan for a while and always appreciated the ingenuity that goes into their product line. Beginning years ago with a family members boat, I was happy to see the introduction of their RV/camp line up. Their kitchen (V1) is one of my favorite camping accessories and I was happy to see the WaterPort and mount combo. The mount lives on the back of my class B campervan and I love having water at the ready. The WaterPort stands on its own, and folks can check reviews there - but the tank mount is really overbuilt. This thing, even when filled, doesn't move or bounce at all on the van. The bottom shelf/plate doesn't seem to do anything as it makes almost no physical contact with the tank above - I tried flipping it too, wondering if that somehow makes a difference; alas, no. Just the same it doesn't seem necessary unless using it as a standalone shelf without the tank (which now that I think of it seems genius too)

Buying the set was a bit challenging, the mount shipped quick and arrived within a couple days; the tank however did not. It is apparently a drop-ship item from WaterPort directly and however SeaSucker and WaterPort have their order systems connected simply doesn't work. I had called a number of times and the voice mail says to send an email - so I would send an email and then get a call back shortly after from someone simply saying "we had a missed call"; email replies took days and when I finally got to someone they said it just takes "a few more…

    Mixed feelings

It really seems like a good product. I installed it on my Bronco Sport back window and after a day or so it was loosing suction. The initial suction is great, holds strong but I wouldn’t use it as a permanent solution to carry my waterport tank. Probably is best for a temporary by-trip solution.

    Hi Francisco,

This is how the product is designed to function. It's a temporary solution for when you need it. Although we say the vacuum mounts will hold for at least 24 hours, they often hold vacuum for much longer.

    Works Well

This works really well, I was worried about it holding the weight but it did well. I couldn't place it where I wanted to for my camp kitchen but that was due to the curves on my Jeep and not an issue with this mount.

FAQS

“Strong like bull.” 4.5” vacuum mounts have a rated pull strength of 120lbs, pulling straight out from center. Pull strength on a shear load, i.e. pulling from the side, will be less. 6” vacuum mounts are 210lbs rated. Obviously, putting multiple vacuum mounts on a single product multiplies the maximum holding power.

There’s no set time limit on our vacuum mounts. It depends in part on the surface you attach to, the condition of the vacuum mount, the load you put on it, and other factors. As for surfaces to attach to, vacuum mounts in general were designed to carry big sheets of glass and other solid surface materials, so smoother, flatter surfaces are ideal. Clean surfaces and clean SeaSuckers go a long way to maximizing the hold time. In any event, if the vacuum mount begins to lose some vacuum, it will warn you so you can get it back to full power before it comes off. The vacuum pump’s plunger will extend from the pump cylinder when it starts to lose power, revealing an orange indicator band. Once you see orange, that’s your cue to repump your SeaSucker. For car racks, the simplest thing to do is to check the rack before you get in your vehicle, and check it each time you stop for gas, food, or the bathroom.

Clean off any surface dirt from the mounting surface before attaching your SeaSucker. While you’re at it, make sure the sealing edge of the vacuum pad is clean too. You don’t have to clean the mounting surface with alcohol wipes, as one overly-enthusiastic customer told us they do, but a quick wipe with a wet paper towel or napkin wouldn’t hurt. Let us make it easy for you: get one of our Cleaning Kits.

No, the HDPE and the raw materials we use to manufacture our vacuum mounts all have a high-performance UV inhibitor built in. Your SeaSucker products should look good for years.
